FocusWindow Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 4, 2026
FocusWindow is a desktop focus workspace published by chsezech. This policy explains what information the app uses, where it is stored, and what choices you have.
For privacy questions or account data deletion requests, contact the maintainer at focuswindowdeveloper@gmail.com or through the support contact listed on the Microsoft Store listing.
Information We Collect
### Account and sync data
When you create an account or use sync features, FocusWindow uses Supabase to handle authentication and account storage. FocusWindow may store:
- Your email address and account authentication details.
- Your display name, if you set one.
- Focus progress, daily progress, pomodoro counts, timer settings, and progress goals.
- Task data, app preferences, widget visibility and layout state, font and visual settings, ambient mixer settings, background choices, and custom background presets.
- FocusTab configuration, saved sites, and bookmarked sites.
### Local app data
FocusWindow stores some data locally on your device so the desktop app can restore your workspace. This local data can include app preferences, task data, progress data, FocusTab settings, YouTube music queue and favorites, Spotify connection tokens, and similar app state.
### Spotify integration
If you connect Spotify, FocusWindow asks Spotify for permission to access and control playback features needed by the music player. Depending on the features you use, Spotify may provide profile information, email address, playback state, library data, playlists, queue data, and search results. FocusWindow stores Spotify access and refresh tokens locally on your device so the integration can keep working. FocusWindow does not ask for or store your Spotify password.
You can disconnect Spotify inside the app. Disconnecting removes the locally stored Spotify tokens from FocusWindow.
### YouTube and media features
FocusWindow can use YouTube videos for background and music features. When these features are used, YouTube or Google may receive requests from the app and may process information under their own privacy policies. FocusWindow may store YouTube video IDs, queue entries, favorites, and background choices so it can restore your setup.
### FocusTabs and websites
FocusTabs are embedded browser views. Websites opened inside FocusTabs may collect data, use cookies, remember sessions, and track activity according to their own privacy policies. FocusWindow stores the FocusTab sites you configure, save, or bookmark, but it does not control the data practices of websites you open.
FocusWindow keeps FocusTab browser session data separate from the main app session and clears FocusTab browser storage and cache when you sign out or switch users.
### Diagnostics
The FocusWindow desktop app does not currently include a separate analytics or advertising SDK. The app may use logs or error information that you choose to share with the maintainer to diagnose issues. Microsoft may collect Microsoft Store, installation, crash, or device diagnostic information under Microsoft's own policies.
### Landing page analytics and session replay
The FocusWindow landing page uses PostHog for product analytics, error diagnostics, and session replay (also called playback). PostHog helps us understand how visitors navigate the site, improve the landing page, measure waitlist interactions, and investigate technical problems.
Depending on the features enabled for the site, PostHog may process information such as:
- Pages and URLs visited, referring pages, browser and device information, language, approximate location, and identifiers stored in cookies or local storage.
- Interaction events such as page navigation, clicks, and whether a waitlist submission succeeded or failed. The waitlist name and email are sent to our waitlist service and are not included in the named PostHog waitlist events.
- Session replay data showing how the landing page is used, such as mouse movement, scrolling, clicks, and other page interactions. PostHog's browser SDK masks input fields by default, but you should avoid entering sensitive information into the site.
PostHog processes this information on our behalf. PostHog may process data in the countries where it or its service providers operate. For more information, see PostHog's privacy policy at https://posthog.com/privacy and its privacy compliance documentation at https://posthog.com/docs/privacy.
Analytics and session replay data are retained according to our PostHog project settings and PostHog's applicable policies. We do not sell this information. To object to or opt out of landing page analytics, or to request deletion of PostHog data associated with you, contact the maintainer at focuswindowdeveloper@gmail.com. You can also limit collection by using browser privacy controls or blocking analytics scripts; blocking collection does not automatically delete information already collected.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Let you create an account, sign in, and sync your FocusWindow data.
- Restore your workspace, preferences, tasks, FocusTabs, and progress.
- Provide connected features such as Spotify playback controls and YouTube-based background or music features.
- Keep account-specific local data separated when you sign out or switch users.
- Improve reliability and diagnose issues when you report them.
- Understand and improve the FocusWindow landing page, including waitlist flows and technical performance.
Third-Party Services
FocusWindow relies on third-party services to provide app features:
- Supabase provides account authentication and sync storage.
- Spotify provides music account connection, search, playback, playlist, queue, and library features when you connect Spotify.
- YouTube and Google provide video playback, embeds, and media metadata for YouTube-based features.
- Microsoft provides Microsoft Store distribution and may process Store, installation, crash, and platform diagnostic data.
- PostHog provides analytics, error diagnostics, and session replay for the FocusWindow landing page.
These services process data under their own terms and privacy policies.
Data Storage
Some data is stored locally on your device in FocusWindow's app data folder. Synced account data is stored in Supabase. Spotify tokens are stored locally on your device and are not synced by FocusWindow.
Landing page analytics information may be stored by PostHog according to our PostHog project settings and PostHog's applicable policies.
When you sign out or switch users, FocusWindow clears local account-specific session markers, resets local synced progress and preferences, clears FocusTab browser sessions and cache, and removes Spotify connection tokens from the app. Data that was already synced to Supabase remains in your account until it is deleted or replaced through the app or through an account data deletion request.
The app uses encrypted network connections for Supabase, Spotify, YouTube, and other HTTPS services. Local data is protected by your operating system user account and device security settings. Keep your device and account credentials protected.
Data Retention and Deletion
FocusWindow keeps synced account data while your account is active so sync features can work. Local app data remains on your device until you sign out, reset or uninstall the app, delete the app data folder, or the app replaces that data during normal use.
You can request deletion of your FocusWindow account data by contacting the maintainer. Account deletion requests may require information needed to verify the account. Third-party services such as Spotify, Google, YouTube, Microsoft, and Supabase may keep data under their own policies.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers needed to operate the app features you use, when you direct the app to interact with a third-party service, or when required by law.
Your Choices
You can:
- Stop using sync by signing out.
- Disconnect Spotify inside the app.
- Avoid opening websites in FocusTabs if you do not want those websites to process data.
- Remove or change saved FocusTab sites, tasks, preferences, and other app content inside the app.
- Request deletion of your FocusWindow account data by contacting the maintainer.
Security
We use reasonable technical measures for the app, including HTTPS connections to supported online services and separation of FocusTab browser session data from the main app session. No system is perfectly secure, and local data can be affected by anyone with access to your device or operating system account.
FocusWindow does not ask for your Spotify password. Spotify authentication is handled through Spotify's authorization flow.
Changes
We may update this policy as FocusWindow changes. The "Last updated" date will change when this policy is revised. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the updated policy.
